In this moving episode, we witness a professional American architect take his shahada (declaration of faith) and embrace Islam after months of sincere research and reflection. His journey from having no religious guidance — and even dabbling in witchcraft and superstition — to finding the pure monotheism of Islam is a powerful reminder that Allah guides those who sincerely seek the truth, no matter where they start.
From Witchcraft and Confusion to the Light of Islam
Growing up in a secular household with no religious guidance, this young man was told he could do whatever he wanted as long as he got good grades. With no spiritual foundation, he began searching for meaning around age 18, first clinging to rocks and talismans in the Wiccan tradition, hoping the creation could somehow benefit him. But a moment of clarity changed everything — he realized that rocks cannot even save themselves, so how could they help him? That realization launched a sincere quest through multiple religions, each time finding man-made contradictions that a true revelation from God should not contain.
“I started taking these rocks and putting them around my neck, thinking they would benefit me. Then I realized — these are the creation. You either worship the creation or the Creator. These rocks cannot even save themselves. How are they going to help me?”
The Shahada — A New Beginning
- After studying the Quran and finding that it matched the attributes of the true Creator — one God, without partners, who does not eat, sleep, die, or share human qualities — he knew he had found the truth
- He recognized that every messenger of God, from Adam to Abraham to Moses to Jesus to Muhammad (peace be upon them all), called people to the same message: worship the Creator, not the creation
- Upon taking the shahada, all previous sins are completely forgiven — a person becomes like a newborn baby with a clean slate, ready to build a life of prayer, charity, fasting, and righteousness
- He now runs multiple projects including educational films to clear misconceptions about Islam and board games designed for both Muslims and non-Muslims to learn together
“God has absolved you of all your sins. You are like a newborn baby. Establish the prayer, pay the charity, fast during Ramadan, do the Hajj when able, stay away from bad, invite people to good, and be the best human being you can be. Welcome to Islam.”
This architect’s journey proves that when a person sincerely uses the tools of reason and reflection that Allah has given every human being, the truth of Islam becomes undeniable. From worshiping rocks to prostrating before the Creator of the universe — this is the transformative power of pure monotheism.
