In the mountains of Bosnia, far from the noise of city life, there exists a hidden gem — a breathtaking lake surrounded by towering mountains and lush forests. Reaching it requires a 16-kilometer off-road journey, but every bump along the way is worth it. This serene destination reminds us that the most valuable things in life often require effort and patience to find. It is in places like these, among Allah’s magnificent creation, that the soul finds peace, the ego is humbled, and one begins to reflect on life’s deepest questions: Why am I here? Who created me? Where am I going when I die?
From the Western Lifestyle to the Quest for Truth
“When you see this, there’s no creation better and nicer than God’s creations. And then when you come close to them, you feel this peace, you feel this calmness — there is no rush, there is no chaos.”
Our guest shared his powerful journey from living in the United States, where he witnessed firsthand the emptiness of a life driven by materialism and a lack of moral values. That extreme change pushed him to re-evaluate everything and ask the critical questions about right and wrong. This quest for truth, alhamdulillah, led him back to Islam — understanding why Allah prohibited things like alcohol, gambling, and fornication. These prohibitions carry deep wisdom, as they protect individuals and society from harm. A sobering reminder came from a recent tragedy at the very lake they visited, where a person drowned because the group on the boat had been drinking, showing the real-world consequences of ignoring divine guidance.
Cold Water Therapy, Grounding, and Nourishing the Soul
Embracing the Sunnah-aligned practice of stepping outside one’s comfort zone, the cold water challenge was taken on in near-freezing conditions. The health benefits of cold water therapy are well-documented and include:
- Reduced inflammation throughout the body
- Strengthened immune system function
- Improved mental resilience and discipline
- Connection to the earth through grounding (walking barefoot), which mirrors the sujood (prostration) Muslims perform five times daily
- Drinking pure, raw milk as Allah intended — from healthy, grass-fed cows in a natural environment
“There’s a miracle mentioned in the Quran — God Almighty Allah talks about how milk comes out pure and palatable between the feces and the blood. No smell, no contamination. This is one of the signs that this Book could never have come from a human being, but is indeed from the Creator of the heavens and earth.”
Whether it is taking cold showers, grounding yourself in nature, or establishing the five daily prayers that nourish the soul, every small step of discomfort leads to a greater gain, bi’ithnillah. The beauty of Bosnia’s hidden landscapes serves as a powerful reminder to disconnect from the concrete jungle, reconnect with Allah’s creation, and reflect on the purpose of life. May Allah guide us all to seek truth and find peace in His remembrance.
