When people think of Islam, they often picture a specific ethnicity or culture — but the truth is far more universal. From Church of England to the Shahada
The first revert describes growing up in a Christian household in Cheshire, England — attending Sunday school, going to church, and even joining a children’s group called the Crusaders. As he grew older, he drifted away from the church but never lost his belief in God. Years later, while running a training course, he met two Muslims during Ramadan. Their conversations opened his eyes to a faith that honored all the prophets he already knew — Adam, Noah, and Jesus (peace be upon them) — while providing clear, logical answers to questions he had carried for years. Within six months, he took his Shahada and embraced Islam.
“They were saying, ‘You know who Adam is, you know who Noah is — Jesus Christ is a fantastic prophet, he’s absolutely amazing.’ I was stunned. It answered all the questions I didn’t realize I’d been asking for year after year after year.”
A Roman Catholic Who Needed More Than “Just Have Faith”
The second revert was deeply embedded in Catholicism — Catholic schools, weekly Mass, and a beloved uncle who served as a parish priest. But at the age of 18, when he began asking harder theological questions, the only response he received was a patronizing “have faith, son.” That was not enough. He walked away from the institution of the church but never abandoned his belief in one Creator. A decade later, working in Bradford — a city with a large Muslim population — he finally received the answers that Catholicism could not provide:
- Pure monotheism — worship of one God alone, without the confusion of the Trinity
- Jesus honored, not abandoned — Islam reveres Jesus as a mighty prophet and the Messiah, mentioned numerous times in the Quran
- A continuous chain of truth — from Abraham to Moses to Jesus to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all), each messenger reinforcing the same message of submission to the Creator
- A clear purpose of life — to worship Allah and live according to the guidance revealed through the final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
- Logical, satisfying answers — no more being told to blindly accept what does not make sense
“I had a fundamental belief in God — one Almighty Being. To consider someone the son of God? I now recognize I always struggled with that. When somebody placed the answer in front of me — that Jesus is amazing, wonderful, but not the son of God — it reinforced everything I already felt inside.”
Breaking Stereotypes and Sharing the Truth
Together, these two British reverts created the “Two White Muslims” platform on YouTube, producing over a hundred videos to combat misconceptions, Islamophobia, and media misrepresentation. As they powerfully state: what they see on Sky News and the BBC has nothing to do with the Islam they carry in their hearts. Their mission is simple — show the world that Muslims are normal people who want safe streets, educated children, and the freedom to practice their beautiful faith.
