Allah tells us in the Quran that He did not create humans and jinn except to serve and worship Him. That answer may sound simple, but the depth of what it means to truly worship Allah extends far beyond the walls of the mosque and into every moment of our daily lives.
Worship Beyond the Masjid
It would not be permissible to simply stay in the mosque praying rakat after rakat while neglecting the rest of life. True worship means remembering Allah in everything we do, whether at work, at home, or in our relationships. When we forget this, problems follow.
“We go to our job and we wonder why things aren’t working out the way we want them to, because when we clock in, we’ve clocked out on the remembrance of Allah.”
Standing Proud as a Muslim
Living out our purpose requires courage and consistency in every area of life:
- If your job does not allow you to pray, it may not be the right job for you
- In relationships, both partners must work together to achieve their shared purpose and meet in Paradise
- Praying together, treating each other with respect, and lifting each other up when we are down are all acts of worship that please Allah
“You must be able to stand up and be proud that you’re Muslim in any situation that you’re in. And if it costs you that job, then it’s best for you, only if you knew.”
Allah promises that in His remembrance, hearts find rest. When we keep Allah as the overwhelming authority in every aspect of our lives, the turmoil and confusion we experience begins to fade, replaced by the peace and clarity that only comes from living with purpose.
