The Shema: The Jewish Foundation Jesus Built Upon
Jesus was born a Jew, lived as a Jew, and practiced Jewish law. The foundational prayer of Judaism is the Shema: “Hear O Israel, the Lord your God is One God — worship Him alone.” Every Jew in Jesus’s time had this written on their doorpost and recited it when entering and leaving their homes. Jesus believed exactly what every Jew believed. The question then becomes: why would Jesus teach something completely different from this pure monotheism?

What Jesus Never Preached
- He never preached the Trinity — There is no explicit, unambiguous statement in the entire Bible where Jesus claims to be part of a triune God
- He never claimed divinity — Jesus consistently pointed to the Father as greater than himself and prayed to God just as every prophet before him did
- He never taught original sin — The concept that all humanity inherits Adam’s sin and needs a blood sacrifice for redemption is a later theological invention, not something Jesus taught
- He never asked to be worshiped — Jesus directed all worship to the Creator, the same God he called upon in his most desperate moments

The Jesus That Muslims Love
Over 1.8 billion Muslims around the world love and revere Jesus (peace be upon him) as one of the mightiest messengers of God, born of the Virgin Mary through the miraculous word of Allah: “Be, and he became.” God loved Jesus so much that rather than allowing him to be humiliated, He raised him to heaven. This is the Jesus of the Quran — the same Jesus of the original Bible before human hands altered the text.
