From Bob Marley Worship to Searching for Truth
Growing up, David idolized Bob Marley to the point of near-worship, growing out his hair in imitation of the legendary Jamaican singer. He then moved through Rastafari and joined Garveyite groups, but found that using racism to fight racism only filled his heart with hatred. Through it all, he remained a truth-seeker who refused to settle for anything that did not ring true. When a brother from the corner store gave him a Quran, everything changed.
“When he gave me the Quran, I started reading it and I saw that this right here is the word of Allah. This is the truth. I took my shahada and I felt a light enter me. I felt like a new man right then and there and I couldn’t stop smiling the whole day.”
The Quran Will Be Evidence For or Against You

For those who read it, implemented it, and lived by it, it will intercede and guide them to Paradise. But for those who neglected it and turned their backs on it, it will testify against them.
