The Bogomils: People Dear to God
The Bosnian Muslims trace their roots to a group of early Christians from Bulgaria who held beliefs remarkably close to the original message of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). They believed in One God and even bore symbols on their tombstones resembling the Islamic crescent. The name “Bogomil” itself means “people dear to God,” reflecting their sincere devotion to monotheism.

From Persecution to Islam
Caught between Catholic Croatians trying to convert them from the west and Orthodox Serbians pressuring them from the east, the Bogomils retreated into the mountains of Bosnia to preserve their faith. When the Ottoman Empire arrived in the 15th century under Sultan Al-Fatih, the Bogomils encountered something remarkable:

- The Bogomils voluntarily embraced Islam after witnessing Muslim tolerance firsthand
- Historical records show that on a single occasion, over 60,000 people accepted Islam in one day
