The Muslim community in America, particularly in cities like Detroit, has taken a courageous stand against the aggressive push to introduce LGBTQ ideology to young children in schools. Dr. Omar Suleiman joins Eddie from The Deen Show to discuss how Muslims are holding firm to their values while also addressing the importance of taking care of our bodies and souls as a trust from Allah.
Muslims Leading the Way in Protecting Children
When provocative posters depicting Muslim women in compromising positions appeared aimed at the Muslim community, and when schools began introducing curriculum that directly contradicted Islamic values, Muslim parents rose up and made their voices heard. The response was so principled and well-organized that even many Christians were impressed by the Muslims in Detroit standing firm on shared moral ground.
“We’re getting hit from all sides — media, the news — but as Muslims we have a foundation that cannot be shaken. Our values come from our Creator, not from cultural trends, and we have an obligation to protect our children from ideologies that undermine their fitrah.”
Taking Care of the Body as a Trust from Allah
Dr. Suleiman also discusses how Islam is a complete way of life that includes taking care of our physical health. After losing his mother, he went through a difficult period but came back stronger by taking fitness and nutrition seriously. He emphasizes that the body is an amanah (trust) from Allah, and the healthier you are, the more good work you can do for the deen and the community.
“Your body is an amanah. The more you take care of yourself, the more dawah you can do, the more good work you can accomplish. Islam covers every aspect of life — spiritual, mental, and physical.”
Finding Truth Through the Proofs of Prophethood
- Dr. Suleiman authored works on the proofs of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that make a compelling case for his prophethood
- Learning the biography of the Prophet and studying the Quran is the path to recognizing truth
- Anyone seeking guidance can simply ask God sincerely from the depths of their heart — no clergy, no rituals, no intermediaries needed
- The growing Muslim community in Texas and across America demonstrates the urgent need for Islamic centers that nurture, educate, and spread the message of Islam
