In one of the most emotionally powerful lectures featured on The Deen Show, the speaker delivers a soul-shaking reminder about sacrifice: the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave their very lives so that Islam could reach us today, yet many Muslims today cannot even give up a cigarette, wake up for Fajr prayer, or abandon pornography. This lecture is a mirror held up to the ummah, asking each of us: what have you sacrificed for the deen that was purchased with the blood of martyrs?
They Gave Their Lives So the Deen Could Reach You
At the Battle of Badr, 313 companions stood and declared their willingness to die for the sake of Allah. They were murdered, tortured, and martyred in cold blood so that the message of Islam could survive and be transmitted to future generations. Every time we read the name of a companion, we should ask ourselves: this person was martyred because of me. The deen came to me today because of their sacrifice. What am I doing in return?
“People died for you. That’s why the deen is here today. Hamza was murdered because of you, and you cannot give up a cigarette. They gave their lives for you and me.”
Nobody Is Asking You to Die
The speaker makes a devastating point: Allah is not asking us to lay down our lives. He is simply asking us to worship Him alone, pray five times a day, be honest, be trustworthy, give up our bad habits, and treat others with kindness. These are small sacrifices compared to what the early Muslims endured. Yet we struggle to lift our blankets for Fajr, we refuse to lower our gaze, and we cling to habits that bring nothing but destruction.
“Nobody’s asking you to die right now. Allah is only asking you to serve Him, to worship Him alone, to practice the deen, to be kind to others, to be honest, to be trustworthy.”
