"I have three wishes which concern me: I am grieved by the fact I can't have them. There is a fear inside me, as there is ...

Thank Allah

What would you miss most if you suddenly lost the ability to move? For Abdullah, a man living with paralysis, the answer is not what most people would expect. His three deepest wishes reveal what truly matters in life and serve as a powerful wake-up call for everyone who still has their health.

Three Wishes That Should Shake Every Heart

Abdullah’s three wishes are not for wealth, fame, or worldly pleasures. They are the simplest acts that most of us take for granted every single day:

  • To prostrate to Allah: He dreams of making sujood and never getting up from it. A verse in the Quran warns that on the Day of Judgment, some will be called to prostrate but will be unable to.
  • To turn a page of the Quran: Something so effortless for the rest of us feels to him like moving a mountain.
  • To hug his family: To walk into his home during a celebration and embrace his loved ones.

“My wish is to prostrate to God and never get up from it. During the days when I was walking, I missed many prayers. Now there are people who might be sad if they see me in this state, but when I was not praying, no one complained.”

A Reminder for the Heedless

Abdullah’s most piercing observation is about our hypocrisy. People feel sorry for him because of his physical condition, but no one felt sorry for him when he was healthy and missing his prayers. The loss of prayer is a far greater tragedy than the loss of mobility, yet the world only recognizes the physical loss.

“When I was not praying, no one would complain about it.”

Thank Allah right now for every prostration you can make, every page you can turn, and every loved one you can hold. These blessings could be taken away in an instant, and only then will you understand their true value.
