Ramadan is the blessed month in which the Quran was revealed as a guidance for all of mankind, and fasting during this sacred time is an obligation that connects us to every generation of believers who came before us. Allah says: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you, that you may become righteous.”
The Purpose of Fasting
The ultimate goal of Ramadan is not simply abstaining from food and drink. It is the development of taqwa, a conscious awareness of Allah that transforms every aspect of a believer’s life. Through the discipline of fasting, the soul is trained to resist temptation and draw closer to its Creator.
“O Allah, allot for us from Your fear such that it will come between us and Your disobedience.”
Supplications of the Blessed Month
Ramadan is the ideal time to pour your heart out to Allah with the beautiful prophetic supplications:
- Ask Allah to guide you among those He has guided
- Ask for well-being among those He has granted well-being
- Ask Him to bless what He has given you and protect you from the evil of what He has decreed
- Seek forgiveness for all sins and errors, and commit to sincere repentance
“Indeed, he whom You befriend shall not be humiliated, and he whom You take as an enemy shall not be honored. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.”
May this Ramadan be a turning point for every believer, a month where old sins are washed away, new habits of worship are formed, and the heart is renewed in its connection with the Most Merciful.
