Name: Allah – In the Names of Allah

In the series “In the Names of Allah,” the study of Allah’s greatest name reveals how Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) transformed every aspect of daily life into worship through the simple phrase “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah) and the supplication “Allahumma” (O Allah). From waking up in the morning to lying down at night, from eating a meal to being intimate with one’s spouse, the Prophet gave specific formulas that sanctify ordinary human activities and keep the believer constantly connected to the Creator.

Protecting Our Children Before They Are Born

The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that before a married couple has relations, they should say: “In the name of Allah. O Allah, divert Satan from us and from what You provide for us.” If a child is destined from that union, the Prophet promised that Satan will not be able to harm that child. Even this most private and personal act becomes worship when performed in the name of Allah and within the boundaries He has set.

Four Things to Seek Refuge From

  • A heart that does not fear — A hardened heart on which the Quran has no impact, producing no tears, no change, no softening
  • A prayer that is not heard — Not because Allah cannot hear, but because consuming haram food and drink blocks the acceptance of dua
  • A soul that is never satisfied — The soul that constantly seeks fulfillment in haram because it has not found rest in the remembrance of Allah
  • Knowledge that is of no benefit — Islam values knowledge for its practical benefit in this life and the next, not knowledge pursued for its own sake

“True wealth is the wealth of the soul.” — Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

Every Moment Is Worship

The believer’s entire life should be a life of worship, as Allah instructs: “Say: Indeed my prayers, my sacrifices, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of all the worlds” (Quran 6:162). Islam is not what we inherit from cultural traditions — it is what Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) brought. Each of us has a duty to seek correct knowledge and ensure our practice matches the authentic Sunnah. The names of Allah are not decorative calligraphy on a wall; they are a roadmap for transforming mundane existence into a life of conscious, purposeful worship.
