The question “Do good people go to Hell?” cuts to the heart of what separates Islam from every other belief system. Sheikh Abdur Raheem Green, a former Christian who explored Buddhism before finding Islam, explains that the answer lies in understanding a single, transformative concept: God is One and Alone — totally self-sufficient, needing nothing from His creation, while all creation depends entirely on Him.
The Penny That Dropped
When a Muslim once asked Green: “Do you believe Jesus is God?” he said yes. “Do you believe Jesus died on the cross?” Again, yes. “So God died?” That was the moment everything changed. He realized he never truly believed God could die — but no one had ever spelled out the logical consequence of that belief system so plainly. Islam offered what he had been searching for: a clear, rational understanding of the Creator that required no mental gymnastics or religious mysteries.
“Say: He is Allah, the One and Alone. Allah is the Self-Sufficient — everything needs God, whereas God does not need anything. He does not beget, nor was He begotten, and there is nothing comparable to Him.”
The Simplicity of Islam’s Message
- Islam does not ask you to believe in mysteries or contradictions — it appeals to reason, logic, and the natural disposition (fitrah) within every human being
- All the prophets brought the same core message: worship the One Creator, not His creation
- Accepting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) means accepting the entire chain of messengers, including Jesus and Moses
- The path to Paradise is straightforward: worship God as He wants to be worshiped, and do good deeds with sincerity
“If you really love something and it benefits you, you cannot help but share it with people. How can you stop yourself from sharing the beautiful message of Islam once you have tasted how sweet it is?”
