When Music Was an Addiction
Antoine managed top DJs and musicians, splitting his time between France and the United States. While he did not drink or use drugs, he acknowledged that music and dance had become addictions that gave him a temporary rush but left him spiritually empty. He recognized that the materialistic lifestyle, whether in Paris, London, or Hong Kong, ultimately leads to the same dead end. “Another way of numbing yourself is through any kind of addiction, and music to me was an addiction. Dance to a certain extent was an addiction as well. I had to have that inner rush.”
Finding Islam in Chicago
Twelve years before this interview, Antoine reverted to Islam in Chicago. He came to understand that the fantasy people associate with French culture, the romance, the wine, the nightlife, is ultimately hollow and unfulfilling. Islam gave him what nothing else could: genuine peace, clear purpose, and a direct connection to his Creator. He now travels with his wife sharing his story and encouraging others to look beyond materialism and seek the truth.
