Advice for the Youth

In this powerful message directed specifically at Muslim youth, a former Christian-turned-Muslim speaker draws from personal experience to address the temptations, peer pressure, and distractions that young Muslims face every day in Western society. From music and drugs to gangs and sexual temptation, the speaker offers practical wisdom rooted in the Quran and prophetic traditions — delivered with the credibility of someone who has been on both sides of the struggle.

The Mirage of Worldly Pleasure

The speaker is direct: the pleasures of the world are a facade. They bring only temporary satisfaction before leaving behind emptiness, despair, and depression. This is the very trick of Shaytan — to make harmful things appear beautiful and desirable, only for them to vanish like a mirage once attained. Every forbidden pleasure has a halal (permissible) alternative that brings lasting satisfaction without the destruction.

“The pleasure that this world brings is only temporary — then it leaves you with nothing behind it. This is the trick of Satan: to entice you with beautiful things that become a mirage once you get them. They fade away and leave you with nothing but despair and depression.”

The Ten Commandments of Luqman the Wise

The speaker closes with the Quranic story of Luqman advising his son — timeless guidance that every young Muslim needs:

  • Never associate partners with Allah — shirk is the greatest sin
  • Know that Allah sees everything, no matter how small or hidden
  • Establish regular prayer for the remembrance of Allah
  • Enjoin good and forbid evil wherever you are
  • Be patient with whatever trials befall you
  • Do not speak to people with arrogance — be humble
  • Be moderate in your pace and lower your voice

“Young people tell me: ‘I am young, let me party now and practice Islam when I am older.’ I ask them: what promise do you have that you will reach old age? What promise do you have that you will live until tomorrow? Ali told his companion: ‘You take one step — death takes two to catch you.'”

This message is essential viewing for every Muslim youth navigating the challenges of modern life. The path to Paradise requires using the energy of youth for good — not wasting it on things that destroy the body, corrupt the soul, and lead away from the One who created us.
