In this episode of The Deen Show, host Eddie welcomes Jorge Garcia, who shares his compelling journey through multiple branches of Christianity before finally finding peace and truth in Islam. Jorge’s story is one of persistent seeking — moving from Catholicism to Presbyterianism, from Seventh Day Adventism to Jehovah’s Witnesses — always searching for answers that none of these denominations could fully provide.
A Journey Through Christianity
Raised by a Catholic father and a Presbyterian mother, Jorge had early exposure to conflicting Christian doctrines. Catholics taught that Jesus is God; Presbyterians said he is the Son of God. The Seventh Day Adventists had their own prophet — a female prophet with no Biblical precedent. The Jehovah’s Witnesses had yet another prophet. Each branch offered different answers to the same fundamental questions, and none could satisfactorily explain the contradictions.
“I went through Catholics, Presbyterians, Seventh Day Adventists, Pentecostals, Jehovah’s Witnesses — you name it. I was looking for more answers than what I was getting. Each group had different beliefs about who Jesus was, and none could explain why they had prophets not mentioned in the Bible.”
Why Islam Provided the Answers
- Islam resolved the confusion about Jesus by affirming him as a mighty prophet and messenger — not God, not the literal Son of God, but one in a long line of prophets who all taught monotheism
- Islam offers a direct relationship with the Creator with no intermediaries, no conflicting denominations, and no man-made additions to the original message
- God is distinct from His creation — He does not eat, sleep, or need anything, while all created beings depend entirely on Him
- Islam provides a clear path: worship the Creator alone, do good deeds, repent sincerely when you err, and prepare for the Hereafter
“If you make a mistake and you sincerely from your heart change your ways, God forgives. He is the Most Merciful. That is what He wants from us — to be sincere, to pass this test, and to struggle more for the Hereafter instead of just consuming one day after the next.”
Jorge’s story is a powerful reminder that the truth of Islam has the ability to satisfy the deepest spiritual hunger — the kind that no denomination, no human philosophy, and no amount of material comfort can fill. His journey from confusion to clarity is one that millions around the world share.
