Ultimate Ramadan Reminder

Ramadan is the month when forgiveness pours from every angle, the gates of Paradise swing open, the gates of Hellfire are locked shut, and the devils are chained. Yet many Muslims pass through this blessed month without truly seizing its extraordinary potential. This powerful Ramadan reminder lays out the stakes with breathtaking clarity: if you cannot earn Allah’s forgiveness in a month specifically designed for forgiveness, you are working hard to dodge the very mercy you desperately need.

The True Spirit of Fasting

Fasting is far more than abstaining from food and drink. It is a comprehensive training for both body and soul, a renewal of life that encourages the spirit of sharing and giving. During the day we fast, during the night we pray, and throughout we recite, memorize, and implement the Book of Allah. The discipline of Ramadan proves something powerful: if you can stay away from what is halal (permissible) for an entire month, you can certainly stay away from what is haram (forbidden) for the rest of the year.

If you finish Ramadan properly, every day you fast puts you seventy years away from Hellfire. Seventy times thirty: that is 2,100 years of distance from the Fire. Allah gives multiple folds of reward to get you to the highest ranks of Paradise.

Practical Tips for a Transformative Ramadan

  • Read the Quran as much as possible; most of the Companions finished it every seven days as their normal practice, increasing that frequency during Ramadan
  • Have your children read Quran to you and read it to them, making it a family mission that creates landmark changes in your household
  • Guard your tongue: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say what is good or remain silent
  • Treat Ramadan like a catapult: the further you pull back with discipline and sacrifice, the farther your good deeds will launch you toward Paradise

Fasting on the Day of Resurrection will intercede for you. Fasting will say: “O Allah, I prevented him from food and desire, so accept my intercession for him.” And the Quran will say: “O Allah, I prevented him from sleeping at night, so accept my intercession for him.” And Allah will accept their intercession.

Ramadan is a therapy for the soul, a boot camp for self-discipline, and a launching pad for the rest of the year. But all of its rewards hinge on one thing: sincerity of intention. Every fast, every prayer, every act of worship must be performed solely for the sake of Allah. Monitor your intention daily, renew it before each dawn, and remember that this blessed opportunity is one that countless souls in their graves desperately wish they could have one more chance at. Do not let it pass without seizing every moment.
