Among the many proofs of the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him) are the detailed descriptions he gave of events that would unfold in the final days before the Hour. These signs, narrated through the companion Ibn Masoud, paint a picture that is strikingly relevant to the world we live in today.
Signs That Have Come True
The Prophet (peace be upon him) described conditions that would characterize the end times with remarkable precision:
- The traitor will be trusted while the trustworthy will be betrayed
- Lies will be believed while truthful people will be called liars
- Communication will increase while family ties will be severed
- Hypocrites will lead tribes and the wicked will control the marketplaces
- Mosques will be beautifully decorated while hearts will be spiritually ruined
- Musical instruments and singers will become widespread
“O Ibn Masoud, among its signs and portents is that the niches will be decorated and the hearts will be ruined.”
A Call to Reflect
The Prophet (peace be upon him) also warned of moral decay and the reversal of values, where the believer would be humiliated in their own community and sinful behavior would become normalized. These prophetic descriptions are not meant to cause despair but to serve as a wake-up call for believers to hold fast to their faith.
“Trials will be exposed to the hearts like a mat, lute by lute.”
Every fulfilled prophecy is a confirmation that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was indeed the final Messenger of Allah. For those with eyes to see and hearts to understand, these signs should strengthen our faith and urgency to return to the straight path before it is too late.
