How can a person truly know in their heart that Islam is the right religion? This is one of the most sincere and important questions anyone can ask, and the answer begins with a fundamental step that many people overlook.
First, Accept That a Right Religion Exists
Before comparing religions, a person must first be convinced that God, in His infinite wisdom, did not leave humanity without guidance. He sent messengers to show people the way. Once this foundation is established, the search becomes purposeful and focused.
“The simple way is to compare the religions. Look at what is being taught and then look at what is a true candidate for being the True Religion. Then one turns to God and asks for God’s guidance, and God will make it clear and plain for them.”
Knowledge Before Emotion
The path to certainty must be built on knowledge, not emotional impulses. The advice for anyone sincerely seeking truth is straightforward:
- Get all your basic questions answered before making any commitment
- Study other religions so you can make an informed comparison
- Once your mind is satisfied through knowledge, give your emotional commitment with full confidence
- Ask God sincerely for guidance, and He will make the truth clear
“What we don’t want is for people to join a religion on the basis of emotion. It should be based on knowledge. After knowledge, then you give your emotional commitment.”
Islam does not fear scrutiny or comparison. In fact, it welcomes investigation because the more a sincere person studies, the clearer the truth of Islam becomes. Take the time to learn, ask questions, and then ask the Creator of the heavens and earth to guide your heart to what is right.
