To Veil or Not to Veil

The question of hijab is not simply about a piece of cloth — it is about identity, obedience to Allah, and understanding who you truly are as a believing Muslim woman. This passionate reminder calls every sister back to her essence: you are the best of Allah’s creation, a member of the only nation on earth that worships Allah alone, and the hijab is a crown of honor, not a burden to be debated.

Remember Who You Are

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala declares in the Quran that believing men and believing women who do good deeds are the best of His creation. As a Muslim woman, you carry the honor of being counted among the followers of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). You are Amatu-Allah — a slave of Allah — and that title is worth more than all the glamour and fashion the world has to offer. Before debating the hijab, first remember the incredible status Allah has given you.

“It is not befitting for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter, to have any say in it.” (Quran 33:36) — The response of a true believer to any command from Allah is: we hear and we obey.

Hijab Is Obedience, Not a Cultural Choice

The hijab is a command from Allah — the King of kings. When a believing woman refuses it, she is not simply breaking a cultural norm; she is stepping on a direct command from her Creator. Consider the gravity of sin: one sin removed Adam (peace be upon him) from Paradise, and one act of disobedience condemned Shaytan to eternity in the Hellfire. This is not said to frighten, but to awaken — every command from Allah carries weight and deserves our sincere obedience.

“Walk the earth with that gown called dignity and that crown called hijab with the utmost confidence and pride in who you are.” — There is no greater act of resistance against falsehood than a Muslim woman standing firm in her faith.

Practical Encouragement for Every Sister

  • The hijab is not just about clothing — it is an expression of your loyalty to Allah and your identity as a believing woman
  • Muslim sisters around the world face bans and persecution for wearing hijab — standing firm in your hijab supports them and the entire Ummah
  • If you make the sincere intention to wear hijab tonight, Allah — out of His infinite mercy — may reward you as if you wore it your entire life
  • Do not let the manner in which advice is given prevent you from hearing the truth within it — approach this decision with sincerity between you and Allah

May Allah guide every sister to embrace the hijab with pride and confidence. It is not a limitation — it is liberation from the empty standards of a world that does not know your worth. Your worth is defined by your Creator, and He has honored you beyond measure. Wear that honor, and never let anyone convince you to set it aside.
