The Crime That Shook Muslim America
The details are almost too horrific to comprehend: a 71-year-old man knocked on the door of his Muslim tenant, attempted to choke her while screaming “you Muslims must die,” and then hunted down her six-year-old son. Wadea was stabbed 26 times, and the 12-inch military-style knife was still in his body when taken for autopsy. His mother, stabbed 12 times including in her face, lay alone in the hospital unable to speak. The suspect had been radicalized by the same conservative media that dehumanizes Palestinians daily as “human animals.”
What we have is a murdered Palestinian child by someone who was radicalized by the environment in which we live right now — an environment that casts Palestinians as human animals.
Somebody Was Radicalized, Somebody Did the Radicalizing

The murder of Wadea is what happens when an entire media ecosystem strips away the humanity of a people and replaces it with fear and hatred. Justice is what every prophet called for, and justice is what Wadea, his mother, and millions of Palestinians deserve.
As Martin Luther King said, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This is what we’re facing now. Without justice, there can be no peace.
