Patrick Bet-David – What Muslims & Christians Have in Common – Response

Patrick Bet-David has been making significant strides in bridging the gap between Muslims and Christians, and his recent discussion on the common ground shared by these two faith communities deserves serious attention. As Muslims, we welcome this conversation wholeheartedly — because Islam has always taught respect for Jesus, reverence for God’s messengers, and cooperation with people of faith on matters of shared moral concern. The truth is, Muslims and Christians agree on far more than most people realize, and it is time the world understood why.

Muslims Love Jesus — It Is an Article of Faith

One of the biggest misconceptions in interfaith dialogue is that Muslims and Christians stand on opposite sides when it comes to Jesus. Nothing could be further from the truth. In Islam, believing in and loving Jesus is not optional — it is a requirement of faith. Muslims believe Jesus was one of the mightiest messengers of God Almighty, born of a miraculous birth, the true Messiah, and a worker of wondrous miracles by God’s permission. Disrespecting Jesus in any way can lead a Muslim to the Hellfire. As Tristan Tate once noted, the Muslim world is a place where you could not freely walk around insulting Jesus — a level of reverence that should give every Christian pause.

We as Muslims don’t have to put Jesus aside. It’s an Article of Faith to believe and love Jesus. We believe he was one of the mightiest Messengers sent by God Almighty. We believe in his miraculous birth, we believe he was the Messiah, and if you say any disrespectful thing about Jesus, this can land you into the Hellfire as a Muslim.

Shared Conservative Values: Family, Morality, and Faith

Patrick Bet-David rightly pointed out that he would rather work with a Muslim parent association than certain organizations pushing agendas that undermine the family. This is where Islam and Christianity find powerful common ground — and where a coalition for good becomes not just possible but necessary. Muslims hold the lowest divorce rates, stand firmly for traditional family values, and oppose the moral chaos being normalized in modern society. Islam provides a clear, God-given framework for preserving life, family, intellect, faith, and wealth — the very foundations of what many call Sharia, which at its core is simply God’s Divine Law, no different in principle from the Ten Commandments given to Moses.

  • Family values: Islam commands marriage, prohibits fornication and adultery, and encourages having children — Muslims lead the world in family growth and stability.
  • Moral clarity: Muslims do not bend God’s law to suit cultural trends or political pressure — the religion remains unchanged since revelation.
  • Worship like Jesus: Muslims pray the way Jesus prayed — falling on their faces before God (Matthew 26:39). Muslims fast as Jesus fasted. Muslims greet with “Peace be with you,” just as Jesus did.
  • Pure monotheism: Islam teaches submission to the One God alone — the same God Jesus prayed to when he said, “Our Father who art in heaven, Thy will be done.” This is Islam: Thy will be done.
  • Original goodness, not original sin: Every child is born on a clean slate in Islam — no inherited sin, no guilt from Adam’s mistake. God taught Adam repentance, and that lesson stands for all of humanity.
  • Women finding freedom in Islam: Of the approximately 20,000 Americans converting to Islam annually, 75% are women — a statistic that single-handedly dismantles the myth that Islam oppresses women.

Building a Coalition for the Greater Good

Sometimes you have to make a prudent step to partner with a group of people that you do not see eye to eye on theologically to build a coalition to win. Muslims and Christians have bigger fish to fry — the attack on our children, our families, and our faith demands that we work together.

The Invitation Stands — Let Truth Speak for Itself

Islam does not need to compromise to find common ground with Christianity — because Islam already honors Jesus, upholds the same moral values, and calls to the same God of Abraham, Moses, and all the prophets. The real question is not whether Muslims and Christians can work together, but why it has taken this long to start. Patrick Bet-David is moving in the right direction, and the invitation is open. When truth stands clear from error, it speaks for itself — and when people of faith unite on what they share, they become an unstoppable force for good in a world that desperately needs it.
