Dr. Daniel Abdulrahman McBride, a chiropractor specializing in functional neurology, was raised Catholic and always believed in one almighty Creator God. But the contradiction that haunted him was simple and devastating: “We prayed everything but God.” After reading the autobiography of Malcolm X and then the Quran, the pure monotheism of Islam answered the question that Christianity never could — how do you worship the one Creator correctly?
The Catholic Who Could Not Pray to Three
Growing up Catholic, Dr. McBride was taught that God created everything. Yet when it came time to pray, Catholics prayed to Jesus, to saints, to Mary — to everything except the Creator directly. When his brother, now a devout Christian, insists on doing everything “in the name of Jesus,” Dr. McBride asks the simplest question: “If you believe Jesus is part of God, then why can’t you just say God?” The inability to answer this question honestly is what led him straight to Islam.
“We always talk about the Creator — God created everything. And then we prayed everything but God. That just doesn’t make any sense. I said ‘God created everything’ — yes He did — ‘then why don’t you pray to the Creator?’ It’s all done. Three never makes one.”
The Quran and Science: The Forelock Verse
As a functional neurologist, Dr. McBride was astounded by Surah 96, verses 15-16, where Allah describes punishment through the forelock — the frontal lobe region of the brain. Modern neuroscience confirms that the frontal lobes are where final decisions about good and bad actions are made, where inhibition and initiation of behavior occur. This knowledge was described in the Quran 1400 years ago, centuries before anyone understood brain function. For Dr. McBride, this sealed the case that the Quran could only have come from the Creator.
“Here’s the Quran 1500 years ago telling us that this is where you’re going to be punished from — the forelock, the forehead. That’s the frontal lobes, where your final decision of good or bad takes place. There’s no way we knew that 1500 years ago. Science and religion — it all agrees for me.”
Islam Simplified His Entire Life
- The Quran provided clear rules for right and wrong that eliminated the stress of moral ambiguity — Dr. McBride says Islam simplified his life beyond any measure he could have imagined
- Jesus himself prayed by putting his forehead to the ground — Muslims follow his example while Christians do not
- The Lord’s Prayer itself calls people to submit to one God: “Our Father who art in heaven, Thy will be done” — this is essentially the Islamic message
- Dr. McBride’s coworkers, many of whom voted for Trump, respect his Islam so much that they ensure he gets halal food without him even asking — because his actions speak louder than words
