From Nightclub Owner to Devoted Muslim
Born into a non-practicing Muslim family in Bosnia, our guest spent years running a nightclub — a life filled with stress, anxiety, and spiritual emptiness. Despite the outward appearance of success, he found no lasting peace. Together with a close friend, he began researching Islam, reading Quran translations, and discovering the scientific evidence within the Quran that confirmed its divine origin. When I started reading the Quran, there’s a verse about Jannah — the forever lasting peace. I was like, that’s it, that’s what I’m looking for. The forever lasting peace. No trouble. And that’s when I realized you can’t just say ‘I believe in God’ and that’s it — what’s the point of the revelation if I’m going to disregard it?
A Father’s Journey from Atheism to Shahada
Raised under communist ideology in Bosnia, his father had lived as an atheist his entire life. But after witnessing the incredible change in his son — the kindness, the respect, the inner peace — he became open to conversation. Over the course of a year, father and son discussed the evidence for a Creator: the fine-tuning of the universe, the precise distance of the Earth from the Sun, and how none of it could exist without a Caretaker. When the moment finally came, during a breakfast meeting in Sarajevo with a family friend, his father declared his belief in the Quran as God’s message and accepted Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the final Messenger. He took his shahada right there — and still carries the handwritten declaration of faith in his wallet to this day.
He said, ‘The Quran is the message from God — I believe in it.’ Then he repeated the shahada. If somebody told me three or four years ago that my father would accept Islam, I would have said no way — he’s an atheist, raised communist. But I watched him say ‘Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah’ and I was like, this is amazing.
